Kat Von D Beauty VoxBox

Hello there,

Very excited to share some thoughts on the Kat Von D makeup products. This is my first time using products from the brans and I have high hopes for it since I heard so much about this brand.

First let's talk about the Lock-it Concealer Creme*. This concealer claims as a multi-tasking product, for under-eye darkness, spot-conceal, highlight and contour. The formula is quite thick, but very rich and surprisingly, easy to blend. It has a medium to full coverage but doesn't look heavy or caky even when set it with powder .

I have the color L3 (warm) and L5 (neutral) , I like them both. I would say it is quite true to what it claims and it does last very well on my skin. I did noticed that it flake on dry and problem area so always remember to exfoliate.

 left: L3, right: L5

Next is the Lock-it Setting Powder*. It claims less weight, no cake, translucent and formulated with Micro-Blurring Technology. I use this on top of the lock-it concealer and also set my whole face with it. It sets makeup very well and doesn't look flat, also helps makeup last all day.

The setting power is outstanding and I don't need touch-up during the day with this. But I would't say it is totally translucent, it does have a yellow tone and if you go with a heavy hand, it is noticeable. So go with a light hand and always tap off the excess!

Last not not least, lets talk about the Kat Von D makeup tools. I have the Lock-it Edge Concealer Brush* and the Setting Powder Brush*. These brushes are made very well, good quality. The bristle are super soft and fluffy. I like the shape of the handle, stay perfectly in my had.

The concealer brush has a very unique shape, flat and also curves in at the top, it is specifically designed for the concealer creme. I still prefer using a makeup sponge for my under-eye concealing, and this brush is perfect for the corner of the eyes and around the nose.

The setting powder brush has a domed shape but it's a bit long and pointy at the top. I use it for setting the under-eye area, I find it little difficult to use for setting the rest of my face, I prefer a shorter and flat bristle, it works better and quicker.

I'm currently using the concealer and powder on the daily basis, really love them for hot summer days.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful labor day weekend!

TonyMoly Kiss Lover Lip Master #6

Today I want to share with you a gorgeous Lip product, it is the TonyMoly  Kiss Lover Lip Master.  I'm quite late discovering this since TonyMoly is such a popular brand in Korea. Their products are very good in terms of quality and also very affordable.  Lip stain and lip tint are so popular right now, there are so many good ones to choose from, but the reason why I'm so excited about this is because it might be a possible dupe for the YSL glossy stain.

The packaging looks very similar, equal size, same opening in the front displays the color. They  have the same type of applicator that has a pointy brush tip. On to the actual product, the formula and consistency felt almost identical, very thin, a bit of watery, but very opaque and applies smoothly. It doesn't emphasize dryness or fine lines, felt very moisturizing and not sticky.

TonyMoly Kiss Lover Lip Master #6

The color I got is #6 so coral. It is a beautiful coral pink color with a hint of neon orange, it looks brighter in real life than in the picture. The formula wears very comfortable and has a glossy finish. It lasts couple hours and leaves a natural coral stain after the top layer wears off.

Compare to the YSL glossy stain, the TonyMoly Kiss lover lip master only comes with 8 different color, but with much affordable price ( $7 - $10) and such great quality, I do think they are great dupes for the YSL glossy stain. If you are interested of getting some lip stain to try but also on a budget, these are worth checking out.

Model Co Highlighting Trio

This Model Co highlighting Trio is a recent find that fortunately made it to my favorite list. I have a decent amount of makeup but don't own a lot of product in this category. I have about three highlighter in total. Can't remember when but this Highlighting Trio was one of the sample that I received in one of the Ipsy Glam Bag
This is a cream product, has three different shades as you can see, champagne, peach bellini and bronze are the names of the shades. I try it on first the peach shade just lightly on top of my blush, it was beautiful, so I tried the champagne shade as a highlight and I was in love.  The formula is silky and velvety, applies easily and blends in nicely on top of makeup. The champagne shade  is to die for.

This champagne shade reminds me of the Benefit Watt's up highlighter but this one is a little less gold tone and more iridescent. It's suits pale skin very well. Under natural light is looks even more beautiful, very subtle but definitively noticeable. I have yet to use the bronze shade, not sure where to use it. I figured you can also use it on the eyes ?? or blend these color all together, so it's really a multifunctional product.  I also like that is comes in a little pot, very cute and compact, easy to carry and travel friendly.

YSL Touche Eclat Neutralizer

Today I have a review of the newly launched YSL Touche Eclat Neutralizer, very excited about this one after I received it from Influenster. This product comes in three different colors, the green one is to correct redness like blemishes; the bisque one is to highlight and correct dark circles and the violet one which is the one I have here is to correct yellow tone and cancel out dullness of the skin.

Just like the Touche Eclat Radiant Touch, it comes in a pen form with a brush applicator. The application is very easy and convenient, a few clicks and the product will come out from the tip. One to two clicks will dispense just enough product for the use of my face. This product claims can be use under or over foundation with buildable color correction. Personally I like to use this under my foundation because it's easier to blend and looks more natural but I think it would also works over foundation since the formula is so lightweight. If you do want to use it on top of your base makeup, it does require some careful blending because it is very pigmented.

As you can see from the picture above, it blends out very nicely. I like to use this in the center of the my face, this violet neutralizer works very well to cancel out the dullness of my complexion, it lightens and gives a very subtle glow, even with foundation on top I can see the difference with and without the neutralizer.

This product is available now at www.yslbeautyus.com also sephora.com if you are interested.

Thanks for reading and have a good weekend.

Cold Weather Favorites

Winter is already here in New York even though we have some really nice temperatures at mid November. I have already switched up my skincare routine to the "cold weather edition" because of all the season change. For me Fall and Winter is all about keeping my skin feeling hydrated and moisturized. My makeup doesn't look good or feel good on top of dull and dehydrated surface.

Over the years I found the best way to keep my complexion looking great is Vitamin C. The quickest and easiest way for my skin to response to that is to take it with water. I usually take couple slices of lemon, put it in warm and drink it in the morning. Now I like to have tea instead, because it tastes better. My current favorite ones are the Lemon Ginger Herbal Tea from Teavana and the Beatuy Tea from ALOHA. They both contains ingredients that is good for the skin. Tea is the greatest helping me detox, making my complexion looks brighter and with a suitable skincare routine and couples of makeup fixer, it's not so hard keeping a healthy, summer glow even at winter time.

On my skincare list:
My absolute favorite moisturizer is the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Soothing Protective Skincare. It contains the famous thermal spring water, helps getting rid of dry, tightness, and any irritation you may have due to the cold weather.
The next must have for me is the Sugar lip balms by Fresh. I have the lip treatment and rose, love them both. It's super smoothing and making my lips feels so comfortable without any greasiness.
For makeup, I really like a simple and fresh looking makeup for the winter time. A skin-like foundation, a light wash of color for the eyelids, natural looking lashes and a pop of color for both lips and cheeks.
My tricks for a better looking base makeup is the MAC Fix+. I use it before and after makeup, it helps foundation stay better, last longer, looks more vivid and less flat.
My next favorite is the Mineral Veil primer by Hourglass, it helps minimize pores, redness and fine lines.
For lips and cheeks, my choice for glowing cheeks is the Revlon Hightlighting Palette Rose Glow if you want a subtle highlight. It's a beautiful rosy color with little iridescent. Stila Kitten is my other choice if you really want that glow.
Last for the lips, my one and only choice is the Clarins Instant Light Lip Profector. It looks good on its own and it can makes anything underneath looks better, no matter its a lip pencil, liner, or a dry lipstick.

Holiday Wishes | Adore Me

slittledreams / Adore Me

*This post is a team up with Adore me.

It's almost holiday season and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I have already started thinking about getting gifts for friends and family also myself. What could be better than getting a new lingerie set then? Tell you what, I would definitely be excited if that happens. Today I want to share with you two of my favorite set from Adore me.

The first set I choose is the Missy Push-Up. I always liked pastel color, and in all of the shades in that  range, lavender is my favorite. It's pretty, elegant, brings calm and relaxing at the same time.  For this set, I like that it's a push up bra, also I think the lace detail is on the front and on the edges of the bottom making it really pretty. This set reminds me of the fragrance Nirvana White by Elizabeth & James, sexy, feminine and yet sophisticated. I also paired this with a nail polish by Trust Fund Beauty call Elegantly Wasted

The second set I choose is Odette Contour. Pink was one of my favorite color when I was young, but now after having a baby I wouldn't go with pink as my first choice, but deep down I still drawn to pink shades. This set has that perfect pink color, medium tone, not to barbie or childish. I would put on a pink blush since this set already set the mood. Love Cloud is one of my favorite blush by Mac, it goes on really soft and has a beautiful satin finish. A pale pink nail polish will blend in nicely with this set. Finishing up with a brighter rosy lip gloss, Pink Pop by Revlon seems to be the perfect choice.

I hope you enjoy reading this one, check out Adore me if you are interested of treating yourself with something beautiful.

YSL VoxBox Review

I'm thrilled to receive the YSL VoxBox* from Influnster and the two products I'm reviewing today is the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer and Blur Perfector. If you are not familiar with Influenster, it is a product discovery platform and review site that helps people to find and try new product so you can make better decision when purchasing products. Check out more here

YSL Touch EClat Blur Primer

“The First radiance boosting primer. Formulated with four nourishing oils, skin is left incredibly soft without greasy residue. Immediately pores look diminished, skin feels smoother and skin tone is more even and luminous.”
                                                                                                           ——description from YSL website

Out of the box I see this primer has micro golden shimmer and it is very obvious and sparkly under indoor lighting. First impression on hand is that is has a silky smooth texture, just like a gel primer has that velvety feel. It goes on skin very nicely and it's transparent. It acts like a filler, my pores does looks less obvious and it resurface the skin, making it soft and smooth, getting it ready for foundation. It also get rid of excess shine, even though it's not claiming to mattifying but I do see my foundation stays better and lasts longer. The golden shimmer brings lights to the skin, the finish look is you get the subtle radiance without any shiny or oily feeling.
Final thoughts, I think this is a very good primer for diminishing pores and prolong foundation wear time, It brings right amount of radiance but doesn't leave any residue. I don't think it even outs skin tone like it claims and price-wise, 30ml retails for $52 plus tax.

 YSL Touche Eclat Blur Perfector

"The first blur on-the-go. Instantly transforms from a balm to a powder to sweep away shine and imperfections. This multi-action balm-powder acts like a transparent foundation and helps perfect the complexion. Adding a touch a rosy glow, and can be used as: 1. alone as an all-over complexion perfector, 2. to set makeup, 3.as a mattifying touch up during the day."
                                                                                                        ——description from YSL website

I have to mention the packaging of this product, becasue it is so elegant, gorgeous and luxurious looking. The pink and gold combination is absolutely stunning. It comes with a sponge and a pouch for carrying around. Moving on to the product, this balm has a baby pink color also contains micro golden shimmer , just like the blur primer. It feels very smooth and glides thinly, no need to worry about a heavy hand when applying. I use it as a finishing product to set my face, it sure did transform to a powder like texture and mattifying my makeup. It comes with a sponge but I only tested with my hand. I don't know if the sponge will pick up the product or not but I'm so worried that it will move my base makeup so I think fingers are good for now.
Final thoughts on the blur perfector: beautiful packaging, works well as a primer or setting product for foundation getting rid of shine and mattifying the skin, extend foundation wear time. If you have dry skin I think you don't need to use both product at the same time. Price-wise, it is 0.33oz. for $55 plus tax.

Final thoughts on the YSL VoxBox: I really enjoy using these two new products from YSL, I appropriated the chance to testing it out and sharing my thoughts on these products so people would make better decision when purchasing them.
